Daniel Series
“Stay Faithful – God is in Control”

In 605 B.C. God’s people, Israel, witnessed their beloved Jerusalem obliterated and they were taken captive (Jer. 52:12). Every attempt was made by their ruthless captors to strip them of their personal security, national identity, and religious loyalty to the one true God. Daniel and his three friends serve as representatives of God’s people in every age. Their years of despair, difficulty, and discouragement in captivity vividly portrays the conflict between the world and it’s ways and God and His ways. Through a combination of drama and dreams we are repeatedly reminded of the timeless truth that in spite of all appearances to the contrary, God is in control. The example of men and the extraordinary work of God compels God’s people then and now to live godly in a contrary world and seeks to convince the skeptic how futile it is to fight God and how fruitful it is to follow Him. Join us in this captivating and practical study.

Grow Up Already –
a Study in 1 Corinthians
Beginning October 2015
Every parent’s goal is to raise respectful and responsible children with good character. Nobody wants a house full of unruly, obnoxious, and immature 20 somethings. We would say, “Grow Up Already.” As our children were growing up my wife and I would sometimes promote maturity by learning from other people’s inconsistencies. An undesirable trait, an inappropriate action, or an unacceptable attitude was a life lesson. “What is it about that person’s attitudes or actions that you do NOT want to manifest in your own life?” By learning from other’s immaturity we tried to help our children “Grow Up Already.” What we sought to do in our biological family the Apostle Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians facilitate in any local church body. It was the “church of God at Corinth” whose conduct was so immature that he called them “babes in Christ” (1Cor.3:1). If we learn to avoid that local church’s inconsistencies (i.e. a focus on favoritism, refusal to abandon pagan practices, tolerance of blatant wickedness, and failure to engage the lost) in our local church body then we’ll be well on our way to maturity. God’s goal for any church family is to “Grow Up Already” We’ll be well on our way to health and maturity if we learn from and turn from the mistakes of Corinth. Join us on the Journey so we can all “Grow Up Already” together.

Living Against the Tide
Summer 2016
For the next several weeks we will take a break from our study in 1 Corinthians to embark on a series entitled “Living Against the Tide”.  We will draw valuable principles from many Bible characters who stood firm in their faith by doing what was contrary to the culture.  From the example of others we hope to gain confidence and courage to live faithfully in a world where doing so is viewed skeptically and believers are increasingly treated with hostility.

Courageous Living in Challenging Times
These are challenging days for followers of Christ around the world and here at home. A Christian Pastor in Iran is imprisoned as an enemy of the state while Hindu extremists in India threaten to ‘cut Christians to pieces’ if they continue to worship Christ. At home a county clerk in Kentucky was imprisoned for refusing to compromise her religious convictions and the ‘Freedom From Religious Foundation’ has sent threatening letters to major universities demanding that they end their chaplaincy programs. The headwinds are blowing against us sapping our strength and testing our will. Inaccurate teaching about God and His word coupled with widespread ignorance of the Bible permeates the church. Intolerance of absolute truth leads to increased decadence in society. Growing Insolence results in greater Irreverence towards God. Only resolve that comes from clinging to Bedrock Principles from God’s word will give us “Courage to live in these Challenging times.” We invite you to join us as we examine five of these foundational principles that will fuel our faithfulness in these frightening days.

Zechariah Series

The prophet Zechariah was sent to those who had returned to Jerusalem following 70 years of exile with a message of comfort to the faithful Jews in certain hope for the future. The city lay in ruins, the temple was unfinished, and opposition to the Israelites was intense. The people were despondent and decadent—having turned away from God in unfaithfulness, yet expecting to experience triumph over their enemies and the glories promised to God’s people. Zechariah calls them to repent, return, and remain faithful to God who will fulfill His promises to punish the wicked and prosper the righteous. Repentance and spiritual renewal are the keys that would unlock immediate restoration of their worship, completion of the temple, and victory over their foes and form the basis for ultimate salvation and restoration of the Jewish people who still seek comfort in this world through the universal reign Christ. The comfort offered to faithful Jews then and now also encourages every believer who will share in their victory through Christ.

 One Another Series

In John 17:21, 23 Jesus’ prayer was for unity among the believers which He said would become a powerful testimony to the lost world of His very own reality.  Each local church has it’s share of diversity (racial, ethnic, gender, socio-economic) which mitigates against unity.  Only as we incarnate the “One Anothers” within the church will true unity prevail.  Practicing the “One Anothers” does not come naturally to self-absorbed human beings but is a supernatural work of God’s Spirit that also requires our intentional and ongoing effort.  In this series we consider a few of the key “One Another” commands to embrace and enact in our quest for unity that enhances our testimony in the world.
