God's Providence in the coming of Christ
Galatians 4:4-5
Preparing For Sunday:
School is in session! This Sunday we enter history class to consider the unique historical setting of Christ’s arrival. Why did He come when He did? Was there a strategic purpose? Galatians 4:4 says, “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son…” With everything happening in the world at that time, we will conclude that Jesus providentially came at the perfect time. Such providence in preparation should cause us to consider if we have adequately prepared our hearts for His arrival. See you Sunday!

God's Providence in Ruth, A plan for Redemption
Ruth 3:12-13, 4
Preparing For Sunday:
How have you experienced God’s redemption in your life? The word “redemption” appears 23 times in the book of Ruth, which shows it is a major theme. Just as Boaz was under no obligation to step in and redeem Ruth, so also Jesus was under no obligation to step in and redeem us. In both cases, the love of God was the motivator. In this final week of studying the book of Ruth, we will be amazed by the beautiful connection between God’s providence and God’s redemption. I hope to see you on Sunday!

Faith & Favor, Ruth 2
Ruth 2:2-23
Preparing For Sunday:
How did you and your spouse meet? We often hear stories like, “We just happened to run into each other.” Ruth and Boaz have the same story! “Ruth just so happened to be gleaning in the field of Boaz.” This is not a coincidence but another example of God’s providence. As a new character in our story, Boaz is a type of Christ who beautifully portrays the person of Jesus. In provision, protection, and redemption, his actions lead us to love our Savior all the more. Join us on Sunday to see the Gospel on full display!

God's Providence In Ruth: Return To The Lord
Ruth 1:6-22
Preparing For Sunday:
Have you found it true that God often lavishes His grace upon us even before we repent? Romans 2:4 says that God’s kindness is meant to lead us to repentance. In our study of Ruth, after finding both Naomi and Ruth battered by their loss, suddenly, kindness begins to return to their lives. The winter storm passes and again, there’s a clear sky! In all this, God’s heart is that Naomi and Ruth return to Him with their whole heart. Join us Sunday to consider how you may need to return to the Lord with your whole heart.

Patience Amidst Providential Pain
Ruth 1:1-5
Preparing For Sunday:
This Sunday, we will begin a mini-series on the Providence of God in Ruth. This short book puts the providence of God on full display, yet it does so through normal, everyday occurrences. Our lives similarly often lack the evidence of the miraculous, yet God’s activity is just as involved. This week, we will look at just the first five verses of the book. Here, we see the painful side of God’s providence. No one wants the pain, but here we find God’s call to a patient to trust in His good purposes. Join us Sunday to be surprised by hope in the midst of despair!

The Story Of Joseph, Part 2
Genesis 45-50
Preparing For Sunday:
This Sunday, we continue our two-week study of Joseph. Last week, we studied God’s preparation for providence; this week, we will study God’s purpose for providence. We will see that God is always working deliverance around us and transformation within us. While this is difficult to discern, we discover it nonetheless to be true, especially in the story of Joseph! What’s most essential is our response to God’s providence. In Joseph’s case, God’s providence was the impetus of his forgiveness—namely, his forgiveness of his brothers. We all need to reckon with a response to God’s providence. Join us Sunday to consider how!

Rags to Riches; The Story of Joseph, Part 1
Genesis 39-41
Preparing for Sunday:
This Sunday, we transition from a topical study to an exegetical study of God’s providence. We will begin by looking at the life of Joseph for the next two weeks. Joseph was a man of exemplary character—one with whom the Spirit of God dwelled (Gen. 41:38) and one whom God was with (Gen. 39:2-3). When his life fell apart through betrayal and lies, it was his steady confidence in God’s promises that produced his integrity. Joseph is a wonderful encouragement for us. When God’s providence is hard to perceive, we must look through the fog to see the clarity of God’s promises. Invite a friend, and join us on Sunday for this fascinating story of hope in the darkness!

God's Providence Over Satan & Demons
Ephesians 2:1-9
Preparing For Sunday:
This Sunday, we will look at “God’s Providence Over Satan and Demons.” We’ve spent a lot of time considering God’s will in His providence, but how does this relate to the opposing will of Satan? The Bible says that Satan wants to steal, kill, and destroy, so how do we keep ourselves from his destructive will and instead within the perfect will of God? Join us this Sunday as we look at Jesus’ disarming of Satan at the cross and our ultimate victory in Him!

God's Providence over Kings & Kingdoms
Daniel 4:28-37
Preparing For Sunday:
This Sunday, we will look at “God’s Providence Over Kings and Kingdoms.” When we look at the world in which we live, we are often disappointed by the decisions of the rulers over us. We look for justice and find a compromise. We look for morality and find misery. This Sunday, we will be reminded of Jesus’ kingly rule! We will consider the purpose of earthly kingdoms and our longing for God’s Kingdom. The great hope is that with Jesus, all things will be made new.

God's Providence over life & death
1 Corinthians 15:51-58
Preparing for Sunday:

Few things better inform and encourage us regarding our own mortality than God’s providence over life and death, which will be our theme for this coming Sunday. I wonder how you might live differently if you truly believed you are immortal until God’s mission for you on earth is complete? Come join us on Sunday for this stirring study of God’s complete sovereignty over our lives. My hope is that it motivates you to greater security and greater boldness!

God's Providence over Nature
Psalm 104:24-33
Preparing for Sunday
As we continue our series on the Providence of God, we turn to God’s Providence Over Nature. When we look at the world around us, we are more prone to see the workings of science than the workings of a great God. This is how our culture has trained us. Yet the Bible teaches us to see God’s detailed involvement in the most insignificant things. For instance, Psalm 104:14 says, “He causes the grass to grow.” That’s intriguing and intricate involvement! This Sunday, we will see how God’s providence over nature prompts us to respond. I look forward to seeing you then!

God's Glory in God's Providence
Isaiah 43:1-7
Preparing for Sunday
This Sunday, we continue our new Fall series on God’s Providence. We defined God’s providence last week as His pervasive and purposeful sovereignty. This basically means that God is powerfully working in every situation to bring about His wise, good, and perfect plans. Wow! There is so much relief that comes from learning to trust God’s providence in hard situations.
This Sunday, we will examine God’s primary purpose for everything He does: His own glory. The beautiful truth is that God’s glory and our good are not at odds! They mutually work together! Come join us on Sunday to find out how you can live for God’s glory and also experience your greatest good!

Trust His Providence
Ephesians 1:3-12
Preparing For Sunday:
This Sunday, we begin a new Fall series on the Providence of God. Allistair Begg once said, “The providence of God is the foundation of all our security; it is this which gives us comfort in the face of difficulty.” We all want security and comfort when faced with trying times. It’s often the worst of tragedies that tempt us to distrust God’s goodness and control. We wrestle with chaos, chance, and Satan himself having the upper hand of true control. But throughout this series, and starting this week, we will see that God is still in control and intimately involved in the nitty-gritty details of all human pain. His providence is personal. Join us on Sunday to be encouraged!
